I don't know about you, but exams tire me out. By the end of them, my brain feels like a prune, shrivelled up and tiny. Which is why I embrace and welcome the summer holidays. They are a time to relax and just stop working for a few months. Here are some songs which will definitely bring you into the summer mood;
tutti frutti summer love - Gunther
Air-planes- B.o.B ft. Haley Williams
Endless Summer- Cascada
Summer's not hot- Selena Gomez
Owl City- Saltwater room
Owl City - Fireflies
Ahhhh. Those songs got me nice and relaxed, (the AC helps with that too).
That reminds me! Do you live in a country where you get extreme heatwaves really often in Summer? Well I do. In fact, we're going through one right now. Here are some tips to keep cool in Summer;
- First of all, drink water. Lots and lots of water. It keeps you hydrated, not to mention, it helps your complexion and helps you kidneys work better.
- Second, when you're at home, turn on the AC or a fan. If using an AC, keep it on until the room cools and then switch it off.
- Eat and drink cold things like cold water (or any other drink) and ice-cream, and avoid baking. I don't know if this is obvious or not, but don't go drinking something like soup or hot chocolate or tea (especially during the afternoon). If you do, blame yourself for the heat.
- Wear light clothes in light colours. Believe it or not, the colour of the garment has an effect on the heat trapped. Avoid wearing black during the day.
- Take multiple, cold showers (this also helps your perspiration ;D)
- Stay in the shade.
- Ok, I don't want to sound like your mother, but she's right, If you're going out between 11a.m and 4p.m, wear sunblock (especially if you're fair, you have no idea how painful the consequences are).
- This leads me to: avoid going out at all during 11 and 4 if it is possible.
The Sun is good in ways, it provides the right conditions for living things on Earth. It gives plants the use of photosynthesis. It sheds light on our planet. It gives us heat. It also provides us with vitamin D. But the sun is also very bad. Too much UV ray intake can cause skin cancers and diseases, many like being 'tan' and to a certain point, that's not such a bad thing. But not everyone should take the same amount of sunlight. People who's skin responds well to melanin (the pigment that makes our skin darker because of the sun) can afford to stay a while out in the sun without too much damage, but people who aren't as lucky, as in people who are fair, please, do NOT stay in the sun too long. I cannot stress that enough. I speak from experience that a lot of sun is very harmful to your skin. I once stayed in the sun for four hours without sunblock and the skin on my leg became dehydrated. Badly. You can ask admin gulie98 and she can vouch for it. I looked terrible, not to mention the rest of my body got sunburnt. Sometimes, I can't even walk because of sunburns. Trust me when I say that too much sun isn't good for you. You must wear protection.
On a less serious note, summer is a time to hang out with friends, go to the beach and have some fun (remembering all the points listed above). Laugh, pull pranks, eat an ice-cream and enjoy it while it lasts!
